Billy Dowell Petty
Billy Dowell Petty, age 88, a resident of Braymer, Missouri, passed away on Sunday, November 18, 2018, at the Missouri State Veterans Home, Cameron, Missouri.
Billy was born the son of Claude and Bruner (Mayberry) Petty on May 31, 1930, in Braymer, Missouri. He served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict from 1952 until 1954. He was united in marriage to Shirley Rae Anderson on December 25, 1954, in Braymer, Missouri. She preceded him in death on April 5, 2005. Billy worked for the Missouri Department of Transportation as a maintenance specialist for 32 years. He was a member of the Braymer Methodist Church, Braymer, Missouri, since 1963. He was also a member of the Braymer American Legion Tweedie-Murray Post #117, and the Draft Horse Association of Missouri.
Billy is survived by his daughters, Janet Kohler of St. Joseph, Missouri, and Janice Petty of Kearney, Missouri; one granddaughter, Megan Hannah Mulvey, and husband, Scott, of Villa Rica, Georgia; one niece, Cathy Gotcher, and husband, Deryl, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; one nephew, Bill M. Petty, and wife, Sandy, of Reno, Nevada; four great nephews, Wes Gotcher, and wife, Carrie, and family, Nic Gotcher, and wife, Jennifer, and family, Austin Gotcher, and wife, Kelsey, and family, and Greg Gotcher, and wife, Danielle, and family; two great nieces, Lorrie, and husband, Oscar, and Ronda, and husband, Kevin; one sister-in-law, Betty Yuille, and husband, Sidney, of Kearney, Missouri; and three brothers-in-law, Clithro Anderson, and wife, Grace, of Chillicothe, Missouri, Tom Anderson, and wife, Marilyn, of Carrollton, Missouri, Richard Anderson of Braymer, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Shirley; one brother, Carl Petty; one sister, Georgia Lee Petty; and one great niece, Jody West.
Funeral services will be held at the Lindley Pitts Funeral Home, Braymer, Missouri, on Wednesday, November 21, 2018, at 12 noon. A scheduled visitation will be held at the Lindley Pitts Funeral Home, Braymer, Missouri, on Wednesday, November 21, 2018, one hour prior to service at 11:00 a.m. until 12 noon. Friends may call at the Lindley Pitts Funeral Home, Braymer, Missouri, on Wednesday, November 21, 2018, from 8:00 a.m. until service time. Burial will be held at Evergreen Cemetery, Braymer, Missouri.
