Betty D. Prewitt
Betty D. Prewitt, age 82, a resident of Chillicothe, Missouri, passed away on Wednesday, March 27, 2019, at North Kansas City Hospital, North Kansas City, Missouri.
Betty was born the daughter of Nolan T. and Helen (Peavler) Cassity on October 25, 1936, in Brookfield, Missouri. She was a 1954 graduate of Brookfield High School. She was united in marriage to Vernon E. Prewitt on November 21, 1954, in Brookfield, Missouri. He preceded her in death on January 17, 2000. Betty worked as a supervisor for Hope Haven Industries in Chillicothe, Missouri, for 25 years. After her retirement, she worked at Skillpath in Chillicothe, Missouri, for 9 years. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, Chillicothe, Missouri, where she volunteered. She was also a member of the Bizzy Belles Extension Club. Betty was a Regent of the Daughters of the American Revolution for 6 years. She enjoyed genealogy, reading, and spending time with her family.
Survivors include two sons, James V. Prewitt and wife Patti of Navasota, Texas, and John E. Prewitt of Chillicothe, Illinois; two daughters, Sondra Skipper and husband Larry of Chillicothe, Missouri, and Suzanne Greenwood of Chillicothe, Missouri; nine grandchildren, Adam Rice, Nathaniel Skipper, Tyler Skipper and wife Jessica, Taylor, Jackson, and Carson Prewitt, Emily Prewitt and husband Doug Johnson, Ethan Prewitt, and Molly Prewitt; one great grandchild, Anaya Rice; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Vernon; one brother, Richard Cassity; and one sister; Dorothy Hackney.
Funeral services will be held at the United Methodist Church, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Saturday, March 30, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. A scheduled visitation will be held at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Friday, March 29, 2019, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Friends may call at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Friday, March 29, 2019, from 12 noon until 8:00 p.m. Burial will be held at Edgewood Cemetery, Chillicothe, Missouri. Memorial contributions may be made to the Forest O. Triplett Animal Shelter Feline Sanctuary and/or the Grand River Multi-Purpose Center and may be left at or mailed to Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri 64601.
