Betty Jo Perry Betty Jo (Tharp) Perry, age 86, a resident of Chillicothe, Missouri, passed away on Monday, March 17, 2014, at The Baptist Home, Chillicothe, Missouri. Betty was born the daughter of Harvey Preston and Grace (Cloud) Tharp on July 6, 1927, in Kansas City, Missouri. She was a 1945 graduate of Chula High School, Chula, Missouri. She was united in marriage to Norman Wayne Perry on November 24, 1945, in Kansas City, Kansas. He preceded her in death on July 24, 1994. They lived on farms in Livingston and Carroll Counties most of their married life until moving to Chula in 1974. In 1987, she moved to Chillicothe where she has resided since. Betty will be remembered by having a unique gift of working with the special needs employees at Hope Haven, as well as the campers at Camp Rainbow. Being outside, spending time with her family, and watching grandkids play basketball were some of her favorite things. She also enjoyed watching college and professional basketball and football on television, especially the Missouri Tigers and Kansas City Chiefs. Having such a caring heart always made her support the underdog. Betty was a member of the Highview Baptist Church, Chillicothe, Missouri. She was a past member of the Rainbow Club of Chula. After 21 years of service as a supervisor, and later assistant manager, she retired from Hope Haven. She has been a resident of the Baptist Home since 2006. Survivors include her daughter, Kay Tolson and husband Alan of Chula, Missouri; two sons, Kent Perry and wife Linda of Shelbyville, Missouri, and Joe Perry and wife Debbie of Trenton, Missouri; sixteen grandchildren, Tammy Snider and husband Joe of Shelbina, Missouri, Todd Perry and wife Sarah of Bristow, Virginia, Brad Tolson and wife Christy of Trenton, Missouri, Betsy Keithley and husband Chad of Chillicothe, Missouri, Brandy Dudley and husband David of Purdin, Missouri, Buffy Tipton and husband Lantz of Chillicothe, Missouri, Patrick Perry and wife Brandi of Eudora, Kansas, Rick Perry of Chillicothe, Missouri, Danny Perry and wife Melissa of Chillicothe, Missouri, Jimmy Perry of Kansas City, Missouri, and Vanessa, Michael, Samantha, T.J., Anthony, and Matthew Perry all of Shelbyville, Missouri; twenty-five great grandchildren, Brandon and Brant Snider, Kensie Wilt, Emily, Mallory, and Gideon Perry, Chase, Lexie, Ainsley and Kiefer Tolson, Karson, Hunter, and Connor Keithley, McKenna, Mallory, and Macy Lambert, Trey, Trista, and Tyler Tipton, Gage, Monte, and Austin Perry, Grace Perry, and Tucker and Casen Perry; and three great-great grandchildren, Jalyn Snider, Addison Wilt, and Brylee Wilt. She was also survived by two sisters, Margaret Horton of Blue Springs, Missouri, and Franki Jensen of Blue Springs, Missouri; and John Tharp of Chillicothe, Missouri. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Norman; one son, Johnnie Ray Perry; two sisters, Mary Martha Donoho and Beverly Jean Tharp; two brothers, Claude and Richard (Dick) Tharp; and one nephew, Bill Tharp. Funeral services will be held at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Thursday, March 20, 2014, at 1:00 p.m. A scheduled family visitation will be held at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Wednesday, March 19, 2014, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friends may call at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Wednesday, March 19, 2014, from 12 noon until 8:00 p.m. Burial will be held at Meadville Cemetery, Meadville, Missouri.
