July 28, 1956 — April 5, 2018

Betty Sue (Kinder) Radcliff Betty Sue (Kinder) Radcliff, age 61, a resident of Chillicothe, Missouri, lived her final chapter on Thursday, April 5, 2018, at Hedrick Medical Center, Chillicothe, Missouri.   She was born July 28th, 1956 to Glen Stephen II and Verla Kinder. She was the third of four children raised on their family's homestead property in Daisy, Missouri. After graduating from nearby Oak Ridge, Betty Sue packed her overalls and went to the University of Missouri, where she received her Bachelor's Degree in Education and Master's Degree in Library Science in just a few short years. She moved to Annapolis, MO to be closer to home while she worked her first teaching job as a fifth grade teacher at South Iron schools. She eventually packed her mustang once again and moved to Chillicothe, MO to teach 6th grade.   There she met the love of her life, Steven Radcliff, and they married on June 13, 1981 shortly before she became the Chillicothe R2 elementary librarian; she would hold this position until retirement 30 years later. She knew a love for reading started at a young age and everyone who entered her libraries knew how treasured books were to her. Once she retired, Betty Sue enjoyed reading beyond a 6th grade level and took the opportunity to travel. She loved visiting greenhouses and tending to her garden. However, she couldn't stay at home long, as she soon became the librarian at Chula, MO schools; she also became the president of the Livingston County Library Board. Betty Sue adored her grandchildren and passed down to them what will surely be a lifelong passion for reading.   Betty Sue was preceded in death by her father and mother Glen Stephen II and Verla (Cobble) Kinder and her mother-in-law Elizabeth (Betty) Radcliff.   Betty Sue is survived by her husband of 36 years, Steven Radcliff, as well as her children, sons-in-law and grandchildren Kimberly, Luke and Graham Hesler (Platte City); Katie, Ryan, Finnegan and Wren Skipper (O'Fallon); Kerry and Zachary Hawkins (Osage Beach); Benjamin Radcliff and Emily (Morgan) (Chillicothe); her brothers, sisters-in-law, nephews and niece Jim, Denva, JC, Robert, and Tora Kinder (Powell, OH); Glen Stephen III, Sue, Glen Stephen IV, and John Kinder (McLeansboro, IL); Kirk, Tammy, Chad, Cody and Colton Kinder (Daisy, MO); father-in-law Raymond Radcliff; sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, and nephews Julie, Barrie, Brandon, and Brady Bothwell; and Paul, Kathleen, and Nicholas Radcliff.   Betty Sue found great joy in seeing school children's reactions when she took them to book festivals, while her deep faith in the Catholic Church brought peace to her life.   A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Columban Catholic Church, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Monday, April 9, 2018, at 10:00 a.m. A Parish Rosary will be held at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Sunday, April 8, 2018, at 4:30 p.m. with visitation to follow until 7:00 p.m. Friends may call at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Sunday, April 8, 2018, from 12 noon until 8:00 p.m. Burial will be held at St. Columban Catholic Cemetery, Chillicothe, Missouri.
