Betty Jo “Bette” Hillenbrand
Betty Jo “Bette” Hillenbrand, age 98, a former resident of Chillicothe, Missouri, passed away on Tuesday, January 10, 2023 at El Reposo Nursing Home, Florence, Alabama. She was born the daughter of Joseph and Mame (McCoy) Thorne on September 27, 1924 in Chula Missouri.
Bette was a 1940 graduate of Chula High School. Along with other achievements in her life, she was one of the first women to become a Compliance Officer with the US Department of Labor, retiring in 1988.
She is survived by her daughter, JoRae Cregger and husband Bob, of Killen, AL; grandson, Christopher D Kincaid and wife Brigitt, of Fort Lauderdale, FL; her beloved great grandsons, William and James, of Fort Lauderdale, FL; and nephews, Doug Thorne and JC Thorne, of Chula, Missouri. She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, George “Bud” Thorne.
Cremation was held. No services are scheduled at this time.
Arrangements are under the direction of Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri.
