Betty Jean Furlong

Betty Jean Furlong Betty Jean Furlong, age 85, a resident of Chillicothe, Missouri, passed away on Thursday, November 22, 2012, at Livingston Manor Care Center, Chillicothe, Missouri. Betty was born the daughter of George E. and Nora Mae (Losh) Hess on July 6, 1927, in Haseville, Missouri. She attended Meadville High School. While raising her family, she attended the North Central Missouri College Nursing Program, where she graduated in 1967. She was united in marriage to Vernon Delbert Riddle on June 15 1942, in Meadville, Missouri. He preceded her in death on April 30, 1996. In 1942, she and Vernon moved to farm in Haseville, Missouri, they stayed there until 1960, when they then moved to Trenton, Missouri. Betty and Vernon lived in various locations in the Midwest. She was united in marriage to Thomas E. Furlong on March 1, 1973, in Trenton, Missouri. He preceded her in death on July 3, 1999. After they married, she and Thomas lived in various locations in Colorado, Texas, and Minnesota, and then retired in Colorado Springs, Colorado. In 2000, she moved from Colorado Springs, Colorado, to Chillicothe, Missouri, as her final home. Survivors include, four sons, Daniel Riddle and wife Diane of Hastings, Michigan, David Riddle and wife Elaine of Humphreys, Missouri; George Riddle and wife Wilhelmina of Douglas, Massachusetts, and Richard Riddle and wife Mimi of Longmont, Colorado; ten grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; one stepdaughter, Terry Cordur of Visalia, California; two step grandchildren; one brother, George Hess and wife Shirley of Chillicothe, Missouri. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Vernon; husband Thomas; four brothers, Earl Hess, Merle Hess, Forrest "Budd" Hess, and Samuel Hess; and four sisters, Okie Todd, Imogene Newman, Mary Francis Saale, and Raymah Alkire. Funeral services will be held at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Saturday, November 24, 2012, at 2:30 p.m. A scheduled family visitation will be held at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Friday, November 23, 2012, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friends may call at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Friday, November 23, 2012, from 12 noon until 9:00 p.m. Burial will be held at Haseville Cemetery, Haseville, Missouri.
