Berenice Nibarger

Berenice Marie Prewitt Nibarger, age 92, a resident of Excelsior Springs, Missouri, former resident of Chillicothe, Missouri passed away on July 4, 2010, at the Excelsior Springs Nursing and Rehabilitation, Excelsior Springs, Missouri. Berenice was born February 24, 1918, in Hickory, Missouri to the parents of Oscar Lee and Sarah Bell (Rice) Prewitt. She was married to Leonard Nibarger on February 16, 1936 in rural Chillicothe, Missouri. He preceded her in death on June 2, 2005. She was active in the church and community in addition to assisting her husband with their business of first building homes in the area and later Nibargers Builders Supply. She is survived by two children, Eleanor Brooks of Austin, Texas and Richard Nibarger of Liberty, Missouri; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; a sister, Marjorie Davis of Kansas City, Missouri; four brothers Carroll Prewitt of Sante Fe, Texas, Lee Prewitt of Holt, Missouri, Don Prewitt of Lawson, Missouri and Gary Prewitt of Kansas City, Missouri; many nieces and nephews and numerous friends. She will be missed greatly by all. She was preceded in death by her parents, six brothers and a granddaughter, then in 2005 she lost her husband of 69 years; a son Merrill and a son-in-law Stephen Brooks. Afterwards she chose to move to a retirement home in Kearney where her health began a steady decline. A Memorial service will be held at the First Baptist Church, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Sunday, July 11, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. There will be a family visitation on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. prior to services at the Church. Friends may call from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Saturday and from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon on Sunday at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri. A private family burial will be in the Brassfield Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church and may be left at the funeral home or mailed to the Lindley Funeral Home, P.O. Box 47, Chillicothe, Missouri 64601. Arrangements are under the direction of the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri.
