Bart Edgar Shaw, age 84, a Trenton resident, passed away on November 18, 2021, at his residence.
Bart was born the son of Bart S. Shaw and Otie (Sherrow) Shaw on June 20, 1937, in Laredo, Missouri. He completed his high school diploma after enlisting in the United States Navy in 1955. Bart chose to make a lifetime career with the Navy, after marrying Doris Shaw on April 9, 1960, in Gladstone, Missouri; staying in for 20 years. The Navy provided an exciting life for Bart and his family. He was aboard President Kennedy's Communications ship during the Cuban Missile Conflict in 1961. After serving our country proudly, he retired in 1975 with honors. Upon his Military retirement, Bart brought his family back to the Missouri area. He then worked at Trenton Foods in the maintenance department, retiring in 1992. He was a member of the VFW, DAV, Fleet Reserve Association, Military order of Cooties (MOC), Meals on Wheels (RSVP), American Legion and Odd Fellows.
Bart is survived by his wife, Doris, of the home; one son, Gerald Shaw of Trenton, Missouri; two daughters, D.J. Hopkins (with husband, Darrell, of Trenton, Missouri) and Teresa Stephenson of Grandview, Missouri; one sister, Ruby Elliott of Trenton, Missouri; ten grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Yuba Clodfelter, and Pauline Allison; and one grandson, Trey Shaw.
Funeral services will be held at Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri on Monday, November 29, 2021, at 3:00 p.m. A visitation will be held at Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on November 28, 2021, from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. Friends may call at Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Sunday, November 28, 2021, from 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Veterans Community Project at www.veteranscommunityproject.org and may be left at or mailed to Lindley Funeral Home, PO Box 47, Chillicothe, Missouri.
