Barbara A. Doherty

Barbara A. Doherty, age 73, a resident of Osage Beach, Missouri, passed away on Thursday, March 8, 2012 at her residence in Osage Beach, Missouri. Barbara was born the daughter of Joseph and Stella (Kuchinski) Witthar on April 3, 1938 in Higginsville, Missouri. She graduated from Cardinal Glennon High School of Kansas City, Missouri in 1956 and attended one year at a vo-tech school. On August 24, 1957 she was united in marriage to Richard S. (Dick) Doherty in Kansas City, Missouri. The couple moved from the Kansas City and Raytown area to Ohio before finally moving to Osage Beach in 1995. Barbara worked as an account clerk for Austin Company of Kansas City, Missouri for ten years. She was a member of the Lady of the Lake Catholic Church of Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri, the Newcomers-Longtimers Organization of Lake of the Ozarks. She was a former Cub Scout Den Mother of Kansas City, Missouri. She was a devoted, loving wife, mother, and grandmother who loved gardening, cooking, knitting, antique-shopping, and playing with her grandkids. She is survived by her husband, Dick Doherty of the home; four sons, Michael D. Doherty and wife Diane of Carbondale, Colorado, Robert Doherty of Phoenix, Arizona, David Doherty and wife Denise of Kansas City, Missouri, and Paul A. Doherty and wife Penny of Russellville, Arkansas; one brother, Joseph "Joe" Witthar of Branson, Missouri; one sister, Thelma Putnam and husband Jerry of Destin, Florida; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Witthar of Jefferson City, Missouri; seven grandchildren, Logan, Cameron, and Eryn Doherty of Carbondale, Colorado, Ryan Doherty of Boulder, Colorado, Kyle Doherty of Kansas City, Missouri, Bret Doherty of Lee Summit, Missouri, and Serena Doherty of Kansas City, Missouri; and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; and one brother, Robert "Bob" Witthar of Jefferson City, Missouri. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, March 12, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at the Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 7009 Blue Ridge Boulevard, of Raytown, Missouri. Family visitation will be held on Sunday, March 11, 2012 from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the D.W. Newcomer's Son Floral Hills Chapel, 7000 Blue Ridge Boulevard, Kansas City, Missouri. There will be a private family inurnment on Tuesday, March 13, 2012 at Mt. Olivett Cemetery, Kansas City, Missouri.
