Barbara June Cook

Barbara June (Boehner) Cook Barbara June (Boehner) Cook, age 82, a resident of Chillicothe, Missouri, passed away on Friday, January 19, 2018, at KU Medical Center, Kansas City, Kansas. Barbara was born the daughter of John Franklin Boehner and Winifred Olga (Smith) Boehner on June 18, 1935, in Brookfield, Missouri. She was a 1953 graduate of Chillicothe High School. Barbara received her Bachelor's degree from in Elementary Education from the University of Missouri-Columbia, and her Master's degree in Adult Education from Central Missouri University. She was united in marriage to John Cook on July 6, 1958, in Chillicothe, Missouri. He preceded her in death on April 18, 2015. Barbara taught elementary school, GED, ESL, and piano. She was very active in community organizations: P.E.O Chapter T, GFWC (Culture Club), the Grand River Historical Society, the Edgewood Cemetery Board, Hedrick Medical Center Auxiliary, and the Chillicothe First Baptist Church, where she served as the church organist for many years. Barbara also enjoyed sewing, quilting, reading, traveling, and spending time with family and friends. Survivors include: three children, Cyndy Munday, and husband, Tim, of Chillicothe, Missouri, Jacqueline Cook, and husband, Greg, of Seymour, Missouri, and David Cook, and wife, Sasha, of Kirksville, Missouri; eleven grandchildren, Clinton Steely, Amanda (Steely) Ball, Nicole Munday, Anna (Steely) Young, Olivia Steely, Amber Bäckström-Cook, Joshua Cook, Sarah Cook, Cedric Cook, Skyler Cook, and Sarita Cook; one great grandchild, Lane Cook; and several nieces and nephews. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; husband John; two sisters, Mary Rosalie (Boehner) Askins, and Marjorie Helen Boehner; and one brother, John Franklin Boehner, Jr. Funeral services will be held at the First Baptist Church, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Saturday, January 27, 2018, at 3:00 p.m. Scheduled family visitations will be held at the First Baptist Church, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Friday, January 26, 2018, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday, January 27, 2018, from 2:00 p.m. until service time. Friends may call at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Friday, January 26, 2018, from 8:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. Burial will be held at Edgewood Cemetery, Chillicothe, Missouri.
