Arlene Rose Klein
Arlene Rose Klein, age 91, a resident of Hale, Missouri, passed away on Friday, March 15, 2024, at her residence.
Arlene was born the daughter of John and Ida (Gempler) Clark on September 29, 1932, in Ida Grove, Iowa. She attended Hale High School, receiving her GED in 1972. She was united in marriage to Claude Klein on September 30, 1949, in Chillicothe, Missouri. He preceded her in death on July 8, 2019.
Arlene worked as a truck driver, hauling livestock with her children in tow. She was also a housewife, bank teller and she cleaned homes. She was an excellent cook, she was famous for her award winning Gooseberry Pies. Arlene helped Claude mow and restore abandoned cemeteries for many years. Arlene was a member of the Hale United Methodist Church, and was Noble Grand of the Hale Rebekah Lodge. She always had a big garden that she canned vegetables out of. Arlene enjoyed watching the hummingbirds at her feeders, she would also feed Orioles grape jelly out of a cast iron skillet on her picnic table. She and Claude loved to dance the two-step and the waltz.
She is survived by; two sons, John Klein of Hale, Missouri, Steve Klein of Goodson, Missouri; one daughter, Linda Jo Martin of Hale, Missouri; one brother, Ron Clark of Hale, Missouri; eleven grandchildren; thirty-one great grandchildren; seven great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Claude; one daughter, Connie (Klein) Dillon; one son, Jim Klein; one daughter-in-law, Cindy Klein; and siblings Loren Clark, Donna Schau, Doris Dudgeon, Duane “Bud” Clark, and Johnny Clark.
Funeral services will be held at the Hale United Methodist Church, Hale, Missouri, on Tuesday, March 19, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. A scheduled visitation will be held at the Lindley Funeral Home, Hale, Missouri, on Monday, March 18, 2024, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friends may call at the Lindley Funeral Home, Hale, Missouri, on Monday, March 18, 2024, from 12 noon until 8:00 p.m. Burial will be held at Hale Memorial Gardens, Hale, Missouri.
