Alice Leah England
Alice Leah England, age 91, a resident of Nixa, Missouri, and a former resident of Mooresville, Missouri, passed away peacefully at her residence Monday, February 21, 2022, surrounded by her loving family.
Alice was born the daughter of Phillip Leslie and Cora Alice (Cummings) Huffman on September 11, 1930, along with her twin sister, Carol June, near Blue Ridge, Missouri. She married Clifford "Skip" England on December 19, 1954, at the United Methodist Church in Chillicothe, Missouri. Together, they ran their farm in Mooresville, Missouri, for 42 years. He preceded her in death on Aril 26, 1998.
Alice was very active in the small town of Ludlow, Missouri, where she worked at the lumberyard for several years. She also taught Sunday School at the Ludlow Community Church for over 25 years. Volunteering around the small communities was one of her favorite activities. She loved working on the farm. She enjoyed working in the yard and always had the prettiest flower gardens. Learning from the bible, drawing, writing poems and spending time with her two grandchildren were how she spent most of her time.
After her time on the farm was over, Alice moved to Bethany, Missouri, where she attended Blue Ridge Church. This allowed her to be closer to her sister, nieces and cousins after her husband passed away. She spent her last nine years in Nixa, Missouri, so she could be near her grandson, Travis, and his family.
Alice is survived by her daughter, Becky Jean Swagerty, and husband, Michael of California; one grandson, Travis Hocklander, and wife, Shawna, of Nixa, Missouri, and granddaughter, Traci Leah Katzfey, and husband, Rod, of Newnan, Georgia; four great grandchildren Mandisha Hocklander, Chanavor Hocklander, and wife, Julia, Kailey Katzfey and Lauren Katzfey. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Skip, three sisters, Sylvia, Acaleene and her twin sister, Carol June, and four brothers, Delbert, Buster, Clayton and Garland Huffman.
Per her request, Alice will have only a small viewing for her family before cremation. She will be inurned at a later date at the Fairview Cemetery, Bethany, Missouri. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions may be made to The Ludlow Community Church and /or The Ludlow Lions Club and may be left at or mailed to Lindley Funeral Home , P.O.
