Alfred L. Singleton Alfred L. Singleton, age 90, a lifelong resident of Chillicothe, Missouri, passed away on Monday, September 17, 2018, at his residence. Alfred was born the son of James and Zada (Meeker) Singleton on January 8, 1928, in Chillicothe, Missouri. He attended Chula Schools. He then went on to serve in the United States Army from 1949 until 1955, during the Korean War. Alfred was united in marriage to Milda Marie Nasser on November 27, 1954, in Weiden, Germany. She preceded him in death on January 6, 2015. He worked for Donaldson Company, Chillicothe, Missouri, for 23 years from 1967 until 1990. He loved gardening, especially raising tomatoes. Alfred grew wonderful tomatoes at his home at 531 East Polk Street forever, and was known as the tomato man. Survivors include one brother, Richard Singleton of Laredo, Missouri; two sisters, Jean Crouse and husband Leon of Berea, Ohio, Lois Scoppettuoco of Sun City, Florida; two sister-in-laws, Freda Annaseski of Nuremburg, Germany, and Kathleen Singleton of Trenton, Missouri; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Milda Singleton; and four brothers, Oren, Mervin, Donald, and Clifton Singleton. Funeral services will be held at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Wednesday, September 19, 2018, at 10:00 a.m. There is no scheduled visitation. Friends may call at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Tuesday, September 18, 2018, from 12 noon until 6:00 p.m. Burial will be held at Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Chillicothe, Missouri.
